NEW ALBANY

WEBER, BETTY LORIENE, 74, died Saturday, January 2, 2016.

She was a retired counselor and teacher of French in the Griffith, Indiana public schools. She was widely admired and loved. Betty left a lasting impression on hundreds of her students. She retired in 1997 and returned to New Albany where she was very involved with the mentoring program for Floyd County New Albany Schools. Most recently she was a chanteuse and hostess at Louis Le Francais restaurant.

Betty was a 1959 graduate of New Albany High School and graduated from Indiana State Teachers College in 1963.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Louis Weber, a brother Bob and her sisters Dorothy Cross, Margaret Oesterritter, and Mildred Wundrak. She is survived by her sisters, Rose Hanson, Linda Douglas, Barbara Weller, nieces, and nephews. She is also survived by her friend, Louis Retailleau.

Her body was donated to the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Garr Funeral Service of Sellersburg, Indiana, is in charge of arrangements, and is where a memorial service will be held Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 2:00 PM . Visitation will take place from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Friends and family are encouraged to leave condolences on Garr's website.
