WELCOME TO
Garr Funeral Service

Stacey Joseph Tompkins grew up in Charlestown, Indiana, where he graduated from Charlestown High School in 2009. With a strong desire to serve families during their most difficult moments, Stacey continued his education at Indiana University Southeast before earning his degree in Funeral Service from Mid-America College of Funeral Service.
Stacey began his career as an embalmer with B&G Mortuary Service in Charlestown, where he developed a deep respect for both the technical and personal aspects of funeral care. In 2013, he moved to Sellersburg to continue serving families at the funeral home, becoming a familiar and trusted presence in the community.
Today, Stacey and his family operate the funeral home as a true family business, dedicated to serving their neighbors with compassion, integrity, and respect. In an era where family-owned funeral homes are becoming increasingly scarce, they take great pride in maintaining what they believe to be the gold standard of funeral service. Every aspect of the operation is personally overseen, ensuring families receive the highest level of care and attention during one of life’s most difficult times.
Stacey and his family are also partners in Tompkins Monument and Burial Vault, a sister company that provides high-quality burial products not only for the families they serve locally, but also to funeral homes throughout southern Indiana and Kentucky. This hands-on involvement from service to product ensures consistency, accountability, and quality at every level.
Stacey is married to his wife, Teslin (formerly Teslin Collins), who works in special education at Charlestown Elementary School. Together, they are raising their two children, Fletcher Joseph Tompkins, their son born in 2019, and ElainaMae Pearl Tompkins, their daughter born in 2023. Family remains at the heart of everything they do, both at home and in their service to the community.
