Wanda (Spurgeon) Couch

Wanda Spurgeon Couch, 89, passed away on Friday, April 2, 2021.  Wanda grew up in Memphis, Indiana, born on February 3, 1932 to Howard Spurgeon and Mamie Druin Spurgeon.  She graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1950.  Wanda married Marvin K. Couch on Sept. 9, 1951, where they lived in Sellersburg many years.  Wanda was a lifetime member of Clark County Extension Homemakers and was Homemaker of the Year in 2010.  She was a 50 year member of Sellersburg Eastern Star and had many offices including Worthy Matron.  Wanda was a lifetime member of Memphis United Methodist Church.  She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Marvin, daughter, Carolyn (David) Hauenstein, son, Keith (Laura) Couch, grandchildren, Ryan Hauenstein, Kristi Martin, Keeley Banet, two great-grandchildren, Kaleigh and Ashlynn Martin.  She is also survived by her sister, Opal Winters, and her brother, John Spurgeon.  Funeral services will be held 11AM Thursday at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with burial to follow at Silver Creek Cemetery.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7PM and anytime after 9AM until the time of service on Thursday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Alzheimers Association, P.O.
