Susan J. Miller, 74, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital in New Albany, Indiana surrounded by her family. She was born on December 22, 1946 to the late J.E. and Nan Miller (Hanger) in New Albany. Susan worked in finance for most of her life, serving as Vice President of Indiana Southern Bank. After her retirement from PNC Bank she worked as the director of Hospice of Southern Indiana and the treasurer of Rock Creek Community Academy. Susan was the founder of Sellersburg Celebrates, serving as 2 time president of the event. She was a mediator for The Governor’s Council on civil rights work. Susan served on the board of the Clark County Youth Shelter, Leadership of Southern Indiana and Hospice of Southern Indiana. She enjoyed reading, watching UK Basketball, coaching many youth sports and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. Susan was a member of the Speed Memorial Church and Northside Christian Church throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kent Miller and by her brother, Scott Miller.
Survivors include her son, David Miller (Dara) of Charlestown, her daughter, Kerri Eckert (Phillip), her sister, Kathy Padgett (Glen) of New Albany and her guarded child, Gedeon Nzombi (Megan) and their son, Ezekiel. Susan also leaves behind her 5 grandchildren to cherish her memory, Andrew Eckert (Kendra Martin), Noah Eckert (Victoria), Nate Eckert, Grant Miller and Meg Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Restoration Christian Church in Sellersburg with cremation to follow. Visitation will be held on Monday at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg from 12:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church.The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Lisa Snyder, Roxie Long, Dianne Glover and Dulcy Looney for the care they expressed towards Susan.
