Gerald R. Sprinkle, 81, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2021 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He was born on April 15, 1940 to the late Raphael and Pearl Sprinkle (Kubeck) in Cleveland, Ohio. Jerry was an educator for the duration of his life. During his career he taught at Silver Creek, Clarksville and New Washington High schools. Jerry graduated from Borden High School in 1957 and furthered his education at Indiana University. Jerry earned multiple Master’s degrees throughout his life. He often attended church services at Northside Christian Church in New Albany. During his retirement years, Jerry taught classes for the labor trades in Louisville, Kentucky. Jerry had the opportunity to travel the world with his loving wife of 40 years, Shirley Sprinkle. They traveled to 5 of the 7 continents of the world. In his free time he enjoyed wood working, music, cooking and watching his grandchildren perform at their extra-curricular events. Jerry was preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Faye Sprinkle (Dickson).
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Sprinkle of Marysville, Indiana, his sons, Chris Sprinkle (Tami) of Marysville, Ray Sprinkle (Stephanie) of Miamisburg, Ohio, Aaron Sprinkle (Kim) of Charlestown, Indiana, his daughter, Rachel Sprinkle of Charlestown, his step-son, Jeffrey Morgan of Utica, Indiana, his sister, Ginny LaBrant (Will) of Largo, Florida, his grandchildren, Lindsey, Nick (Allie), Matthew, Deanna, Daniel (Michelle), Andrew and Mercedez (Carlos). Jerry also leaves behind one great-grandchild, Isabella and one on the way.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with interment to follow at Hopewell Cemetery in Scott County. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Wednesday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
