Sellersburg, IN – Dorothy Frances Miller, a beloved member of the Sellersburg community, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 24th, 2026, at the age of 92 with her family by her side. Born on March 29th, 1934, in Gee, Kentucky, to Jesse and Ora Addie Montgomery, Dorothy was a beacon of kindness and strength to all who knew her.
She was the devoted wife of Eddie Miller, with whom she shared 73 years of marriage, and together they raised a family filled with love, determination, and lasting memories.
Dorothy was a dedicated District Secretary for 31 years at the Clark County Soil and Water Conservation District. She went to work in 1969 at a time when it was far less common for mothers to work outside the home, she was a pioneer for working women — balancing career and family with grace, professionalism, and perseverance. Her strong work ethic and classy presence left a lasting impression on those who knew and worked alongside her.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures and was especially passionate about gardening, with a special love for roses that bloomed beautifully under her care each season. She also enjoyed creating ceramics, traveling to new places, shopping trips to Kohls, and making memories with those she loved most.
Above all else, she cherished time spent with her grandchildren. Whether attending their events, running them to school activities and practices, sharing stories, taking them shopping or simply enjoying quiet moments together, her family was the center of her world.
Dorothy will be remembered for her strength, resilience, elegance, and deep love for her family. Her legacy lives on through the generations she helped shape and the many lives she touched along the way.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Montgomery, Ora Addie Montgomery, and Bernice Montgomery, her sister Joyce Smith, her brother Lawrence Montgomery, her son Rick Miller and her beloved granddaughter, Natalie Miller.
Surviving family members who will miss her dearly are her loving husband Eddie Miller, Son Greg Miller (Sharon). Sisters Pam Hickman (Ronnie), Phyllis Mullins (Earl). 6 Grandchildren, Steve Vest (Crystal), Amber Cook, Eddie Henley (Angie), Gregory Miller, Kaitlin Cook (Courtney), and Bailey Miller (Kailey). 8 Great Grandchildren, Connor, Morgan, Talon, Ethan, Khaleesi, Peyton, Alton, and Dillan. Sister-in-laws Pauline Montgomery and Doris Vick. Brother-in-laws, Steve Miller (Sally), Don Miller, and Terry Miller (Shelly). Along with many cherished nieces and nephews.
Dorothy's life was a testament to faith, resilience, and love. Her warm smile, and generous spirit will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, aides, and staff at Maple Manor for the compassionate and loving care they provided Dorothy. Your kindness, patience, and support brought comfort not only to her, but to our entire family during a difficult time.
Visitation for Mrs. Miller will be held from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday May 29, 2026 at Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311 Sellersburg, IN 47172), and Saturday May 30, 2026 from 9:00 am until the time of service.
