William “Redbuck” Collier,89, passed away on Friday August 17, 2018 at home surrounded by his famlily. He was born on June 10, 1929 to the late Ralph and Ruby Collier in Speed, Indiana. Mr. Collier honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from Louisville Cement where he worked as a Kiln Burner. Mr. Collier was a member of the Pleasant View United Methodist Church in Borden, Indiana, the Sellersburg Volunteer Fire Department, the Sellersburg Fire Board, the American Legion Post 204 (Sellersburg), the VFW Post 3281 (New Albany) and the Loyal Order of the Moose (Sellersburg). He was also previously held a position on the Sellersburg Town Board. Mr. Collier was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Collier, his brothers, Jack and Bobby Collier, his sisters, Mildred “Red” Emmons, Peggy Daily, and Virginia Lape.
Survivors include his Partner, Edna Hedrick of Memphis, his son, Rusty Collier (Wilma) of Sellersburg, his step-son, Charles “Chuck” Hedrick (Lora) of Salem, Indiana, his Daughter, Susan Hutchison (Jerry Cottrell) of Jeffersonville and his step daughter, Lisa House (Gary) of Memphis. Mr. Collier also leaves behind two granddaughters, Brittany Bishop (Brandon) of Sellersburg and Stacie Stoner (Cory) of Sellersburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with interment to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 12:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
