We (Xiaoping, Ethan and I) were so shocked to hear about Ray's passing. Ray was our beloved pastor for the Chinese Mission Baptist Church on Walnut Street in Louisville downtown during the time our family attended there. He was such a gentle, kind, loving, wise, and inspiring pastor ! He was so wonderful listening to us and trying to help us solve problems. We were so fortunate to get to know Ray and his loving wife Thelma. We were and will forever be thankful for their visit to our home on December 29th, 2015. Ray will be missed so much and we pray that our dear Thelma will stay strong ! We love you, Thelma !

I was stunned to hear of Pastor Ray's passing, having just spoken with him a few weeks ago. I worked closely with him during his ministry to the Chinese Mission at Walnut Street Baptist Church. Ray had a gentle, caring and Christ-like manner that was contagious and made me feel I was a true friend. We will miss him.

Thelma (and Family);
You and Ray were such a blessing to our family. The time you two spent at Calvary Evangelical in Van Wert touched a great many people. Not only in our spiritual life, but our daily walk as well. I enjoyed Pastor Ray's sermons and remember many of them well. Do you remember when he spoke on Godseqences? Things happen, not by consequence, but by God's design; hence = Godsequence. I have re-used that new verb regularly now and whenever I'm asked - I credit Ray.

I could go on and on, as I'm sure most posting here want to do, but I'll keep my comments short - but my memories... are very, very long and blessed because of your willingness to come to us. So I will end my comments, the way Ray ended many Sunday morning services, with this blessing from Num 6:24-26

May the Lord bless you and keep you; make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; and his countenance shine upon you and give you peace.

Dear Thelma & Family
Such a loss to all of us who came to know you & share our love in Jesus together.
We had no idea of Ray's home going until a recent call from Dudgeon's. We express heartfelt sympathy you all. Praying for you and know God called him home & will care for you all until you join him there. God's blessings & presence.

An A GARDEN PATH was ordered on June 9, 2016

Message from Chuck Gillin

And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient (2 Timothy 2:24)

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control (Galatians 5:22-23a)

My first contact with the Rev. Raymond Feeck occurred during my seminary days at the Reformed Episcopal Seminary in Philadelphia in the early 1970s. He taught several course in the department of Pastoral Theology. We learned there that teaching took place by instruction and example. The faith once delivered to the saints was ‘caught’ as well as taught. My earliest impression of Ray was that this is a man controlled by a gentle spirit. This did not diminish his boldness in declaring God’s truth, but confirmed it. In subsequent years, as I was called to the church where Ray was raised, I continued to observe this same godly spirit in his life. As I had the opportunity, for many of those years, to minister to Ray’s parents, Ray and Helen, I came to understand the depth of those roots of faith. I thank the Lord for the life and ministry of this man of God and for the godly heritage he inherited and left behind.

My sincere condolences to Thelma and her family. Rest in the promises of the Lord that assure us, "he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life." (St. John 5:24)

In Christ,
Bishop Chuck Gillin

Thelma: We have thought of you many times over the years and want to assure you and your family of our prayers during these days. I (Ray) heard of the Lord's blessing of your ministry at St. Matthew's and what I have read He continues to use you and Ray before and after those days. Ray has completed his ministry and is now enjoying being in the presence of our Lord. The Lord will meet your needs now and in the days to come.

I worked as secretary at Calvary Evangelical Church starting in 2003 and Ray was the Pastor. He was a loving and caring Pastor. I always enjoyed going over the prayer list with him each week. He wanted it done right and kept up-to-date. Ray was a precious man of God. He will long be remembered. Our sympathy goes to Thelma and family. God bless you and give you comfort.

Thelma, I just want you and your family to know that Pastor Ray meant a lot to me and my family while he served as our pastor at Calvary Evangelical Church. I respected and loved him dearly and grew in my faith during his pastorate in Van Wert. After you folks left, we felt lead to return to our former church, Berne First Missionary Church, in Berne, IN where Mary Kay grew up. We had served as youth leaders for several years before we moved to Rockford. Then the time change between Ohio/Indiana made it to late to take our little ones to evening service, so we started attending Calvary. Of all the senior pastors who influenced my life, your husband/dad was the most respected!! May God comfort you in this loss and God's gain. In Christ, Bob and Mary Kay

Thelma, Pastor Feeck was so special to me during his time at Calvary. He inspired me to dig deeper into the Word and the example that you both set for me helped in my marriage . My wife Lori and I met Ray and Thelma on our very first mission trip, which was to Booneville Kentucky, one of the poorest places in the US. We got to know Ray and Thelma quite well on the trip and were inspired by their patience, good humor and unwavering commitment to sharing the Gospel. Shortly after meeting the Feecks on this trip we moved far away to Iowa but kept up with Thelma long distance. Since this seemingly chance meeting years ago, my wife and I have always used Ray and Thelma as our examples of what truly God-centered lives should look like. Ray seemed to always be on mission, never stopping, never giving up and yet, inexplicably always possessed of a deep sense of rest. He seemed to always be very serious, but simultaneously extremely funny with a dry humor that could unexpectedly leave you in stitches. We will always remember Ray, not only for his effect on our lives, but as a shining example of what Jesus Christ can do with a willing heart.

Message from Steve & Lou Peasley
June 3, 2016 3:20 PM

It was a bittersweet time emotionally when we learned that Pastor Ray Feeck had gone to be with the Lord. Our hearts are saddened that we won't see him again here, yet rejoicing that he is with God, of whom he was a faithful servant. Ray was the most gentle, caring person we know; his work and love for Jesus was obvious in everything he did or said. Thelma, I hope that you can feel God's loving arms around you at this most heartbreaking time. I'm so happy that you and Ray moved to be near your daughter and her family so you will be supported by them.

We were saddened to hear of Ray's passing. What a great testimony, legacy and example he left us. As interim at Cornerstone Church in Argos, Indiana last year, Ray was clearly God-Sent for us. He brought healing, gentle prodding, wise counsel, and an untold time of refreshment to all of our body. Thanks, Ray & Thelma, for your servant help to us. We are grateful for the gracious example of a godly man, godly woman and a godly couple. Your lives will continue to have impact on so many of us.
