Betty was one of the most important and influential adults during my childhood. My sister Nancy and I felt truly loved by her. Betty was always teaching us different things, mostly practical like which cream rinse to use on my hair and how to clean a toilet. And she always gave us her undivided attention when we were around during her visits. I loved spending time with her and being around her warm and loving nature. She made me feel whole and loved. I’m deeply grateful for having Betty in my life. She is a huge part of the person I am now.

Miss Betty was our neighbor in Cobblers Crossing for many years. Absolutely one of the kindest souls I've ever met. She was loved by many (especially our daughters Reagan & Riley), and we miss her hugs. RIP Miss Betty. The Wickens family loved you very much.

One of my two favorite teachers. You had a 'light'. I felt like I could trust you with anything. Thank you for being there.

There are a small handful of people you meet in your life who will leave their print on you for a lifetime. Mrs. Weber was one of those people. I looked so forward to my time with her in class. She was so authentic. My deepest sympathy goes out to everyone feeling the sadness of her passing.

Mrs. Weber,
Merci et au revoir pour l'instant

I hate to imagine who I would have become without having the privilege of being a student of Madame Weber. Au revoir, Madame. Merci beaucoup.

The news of Betty's passing has sent shock waves, storms of sad and loving tears from so many of us tonight upon learning of this tragic news. I speak for so many of us tonight in saying this incredibly graceful, creative, thoughtful woman shaped many of our lives in Griffith High School. She dedicated herself to us more than any other teacher in our lives. She would take time at the end of each class and have "thoughts", where we'd have the opportunity to anonymously write down whatever we were struggling with in life, and she gave wise pieces of advice to each one. She became a dear friend & counselor to so many of us & her impact on us has made a permanent print on our personalities & character because of her, directly. My heart is heavy for Betty's family. Please know there is a wave of beautiful homage circling on Facebook across this entire country right now from so many of us, 25 years after bring in this supreme woman's presence. Nous t'aimons!

The world has lost a wonderful and caring person. Betty was our neighbor in Highland, Indiana and treated us with kindness from the moment we met her. Betty was wonderful to our sons & taught them a great deal. I received a phone message from Betty right before her passing but did not have a chance to return her call. I wished I had talked to Betty one last time. Betty will be missed by all who knew her. Betty was one of a kind.

Betty, I will miss your beaming smile and gregarious personality. We had many good times together at our luncheons and trips to the theater. I know you're singing with the angels, enjoying French wine and engaging in long conversations. May you rest in peace.

She was one of my favorite teachers of all time! She didn't just teach French but love for life & silliness (or at least allowed us to be silly in class at times). She cared more about us as people than any teacher I experienced. Merci Madame!
