William “Tinker” Fry, 87, entered eternal life on Monday, August 8, 2022 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He was born on March 19, 1935 in Jeffersonville to the late Walter and Ardolpha Fry (Raizor). Tinker retired from New Albany Floyd County Schools. He worked as an elementary teacher for Laffayette Elementary School in Floyds Knobs, Indiana. Tinker earned his undergraduate and master degrees from Indiana University. He was a past member of the Sellersburg United Methodist Church, was a Shriner and a Freemason. In the early years, Tinker owned and operated an Ice Cream Truck. In his free time he enjoyed collecting knifes and coins, bird watching, gardening and attending meals with his “Supper Club.” Tinker was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Donna Fry.
Tinker is survived by his son, Steve Fry of Sellersburg, Indiana and by his two grandchildren, Alyssa Fry of Sellersburg and Ben Fry also of Sellersburg.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with interment to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
