IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William "Bill"
Voyles
August 14, 1939 – September 4, 2024
Bill passed away at his home on September 4th from a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.
Bill was born in Jeffersonville on August 14, 1939, to William C. Voyles and Hazel Fessel Voyles. He was the youngest of 11 children. His Mother, Hazel, raised Bill on the family farm after losing his Father at 4 months old. Hazel was able to keep the family together while all working together to keep the farm going. She taught him RESPECT and the value of family, which he extended to his children.
Bill graduated from Jeffersonville High School where he participated in track and basketball. If you were lucky enough to play ball with or against him, you know he had that unbelievable hook shot from anywhere on the court. Bill enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, and his main love, GOLF, taking two hole-in-one trophies with him. For those golfers out there, both hole-in-ones were made at Speed Golf Course, hole #8!
Bill met his wife, Patty, on a blind date. Patty was the love of his life for 58 years before she passed from Covid in 2020. Bill and Patty shared 3 daughters, 4 sons-in-law, 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. They resided in Sellersburg for over 40 years. Bill later shared love and companionship with grade school friend, Judy Storz.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents William C. Voyles and Hazel Fessel Voyles, his beloved wife Patty Boone Voyles, brothers, Joseph Voyles, Robert Voyles, and Jerry Voyles, sisters, Bernie Naiser, Marcella Gent, Wilma Frazure, Pauline Hublar, and Maxine Davidson.
Bill is survived by his three daughters, Beth Turk (James), Susan Voyles Garr (Adam McCoskey), Brian Garr, of Sellersburg, IN, Shannon Middleton (Scott) Danville, IN, Sisters, Margie Conn (Jeffersonville), Mary Strait, (Jack) Muskegon, MI, Grandchildren, Allison Cleveland (Brandon), Haley Richardson (Tyler), Sam Garr, Jarrett Garr, William Middleton (Kelsey), Jason Habich (Jo Simons- Habich), Great-grandchildren, Tegan Cleveland, Stella Cleveland, Remi Garr, Harrison Middleton, June Richardson, Alex Simons, Will Simons, Hannah Habich, Brayden Habich. Numerous In-Laws, Nieces, and Nephews also survive Bill.
