Virginia L. Zahnd

Virginia Louise (Spencer) Zahnd, 81, passed away peacefully at Rolling Hills Healthcare Center in New Albany, Indiana. Virginia was born on January 28, 1939 to the late Oval and Erma Spencer in Milltown, Indiana. She retired from Wedgewood Healthcare Center in Clarksville and later worked private care for Westminster Village in Clarksville. Virginia thoroughly enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Earnest L. Zahnd, by her son, Steve W. Zahnd, by her daughter-in-law, Tammy Zahnd and by her brothers, Marvin, Glen, Keith, Dale and Dennis Spencer.

Survivors include her son, Larry E. Zahnd (Nita) of Charlestown, Jeffrey S. Zahnd (Kathy) of Sellersburg, her grandchildren, Andrea, Jeffrey, Bradley and Brandon, her brother, James Spencer, Jessie Spencer, Kenny Spencer and her sisters, Barbara Beckett, Janice Montgomery and Delores Shackelford.  Virginia also leaves behind 5 great grandchildren to cherish her memory.  The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Rolling Hills Healthcare Center and Kindred hospice for their exceptional care given to Virginia and her family during this time.

Private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: Alzheimer's Association of Greater Kentucky and Southern Indiana (6100 Dutchman’s Lane Louisville, Kentucky 40202) or to American Heart Association (6100 W 96th St # 200 Indianapolis, Indiana 46278) or to a Humane Society of your choice.
