Veta Maria (Gallo) Ramsey

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Veta Maria Ramsey, a beloved resident of Charlestown, Indiana, who peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, October 8th, 2025, at the age of 72.

Veta was born on a crisp autumn day, Tuesday, November 4th, 1952, in Washington D.C. She spent her formative years crafting a life imbued with warmth and devotion, values she carried with her throughout her lifetime. A dedicated homemaker, Veta's world revolved around her family, her faith, and her community.

A devout Christian, Veta found joy and camaraderie in playing Bunco with her cherished circle of friends, fondly referred to as the "bunco ladies." Her quiet evenings were often spent completing intricate Diamond Dots, all while enjoying the comforting familiarity of the Hallmark Channel. Especially the Hallmark Christmas movies, which reminded her of her favorite holiday, especially her Andres Family Christmas party. Yet, it was her grandchildren who were her true pride and joy. 

She is survived by her son James Ramsey and his wife Brittany, grandchildren Colten Ramsey and Abigail Ramsey. Sister in Laws that helped tremendously Mary Vest and Brenda (John) Turner. Brother in Law Dewey King. Along with an extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whom she loved deeply and often supported.

Veta was preceded in death by her loving parents, Dominick Gallo and Mary McCowan, her devoted husband, Michael Ramsey, her cherished daughter, Machelle Ramsey, and her dear sister, Cindy King.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate Veta's life at Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172).  Memorial visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, October 14th, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, followed immediately by a service at 6:00 pm. Arrangements have been thoughtfully provided by Garr Funeral Home.

Veta Maria Ramsey leaves a legacy of warmth, devotion, and unwavering love—a testament to a life well-lived. Her gentle spirit and nurturing heart will be profoundly missed but forever remembered by those fortunate enough to have met her.
