Verril Tony Carpenter was born Jan 31,1932 in Washington County Kentucky. He was the son of Mitchell Thompson Carpenter and Lena Florine Reynolds Carpenter. He married Fauniel Hall in Gravel Switch Kentucky on September 16, 1955. He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Fauniel and survived by his 3 children Craig Mandel Carpenter, Angela Stacey-Jones and Melissa Foster. 5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 3 son-in laws, 2 daughters in laws, 1 brother and 2 sisters.
He received his BA from Eastern State Teachers College in Eastern Kentucky, and a Masters degree from Ball State University. He is a retired industrial arts teacher, and also a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War who served aboard the U.S.S. Carpenter. He believed that the Lord was his Savior and friend and was an active and longtime member of First Baptist Church in Sellersburg Indiana. He volunteered his time and served his church in many different functions through-out his life.
Verril was an avid gardener who enjoyed raising not only vegetables, but several types of fruits and berries and loved to share his treasures with friends and neighbors. He was a very gifted inventor of practical and useful devices to be used in everyday life. He was a master wood craftsman who built beautiful pieces of furniture throughout his lifetime.
Most of all Verril was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many. He lived a long, happy and full life and died doing what he loved most. He will be sorely missed, and words cannot express how empty the earth will seem without his presence.
Goodbye Dad, we now give you over to Gods embrace, and may you look forever upon his shining face, no more suffering shall you endure, God has you now, of that you can be sure.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Monday, July 10, 2023 at the Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172). Visitation will be held on Monday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
