Timothy L. Sells, Sr., 92, entered eternal life on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at his home in Hamburg with his family by his side. He was born on April 2, 1930, to the late Carl and Gladys Sell (Doughty) in Speed, Indiana. Tim honorably retired from the United States Army where he served his country in the Korean War. He was wounded in the line of duty at the Chosin Reservoir and was paralyzed. He fought his way to recovery, and later in life when paralysis struck again, he continued the fight and did not let life's battles hold him back. Tim was a recipient of the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars. He was a successful entrepreneur and devoted family man. Tim was a member of Speed Memorial Church, Masonic Lodge 631 of Sellersburg, Clark County Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine, Tri-County Shrine, Paralyzed Veterans of America, American Legion Post 204 of Sellersburg, V.F.W. Post 1693 of New Albany, and Moose Lodge 1757 of Sellersburg.
Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years Jamesa “Sis” Barnett Sells of Hamburg; his sons Timothy L. Sells, Jr. and Jeffery C. Sells of Laconia, Indiana; his daughters Leah Reynolds (Mike) of Cartersville, Georgia, and Lana Kaelin (Mike) of Hamburg, Indiana; his brother Keith Bottorff (Rita) of Henryville, Indiana; and his sister Lynn Dennison (Boyd) of Henryville, Indiana. Tim also leaves behind 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren to cherish his memory.
Timothy was preceded in death by his grandson, Marc Sells, by his brothers James, Edward, and Terry Bottorff; and by his sisters Nancy Guernsey, Sharon Moulder, Beverly Baumann, Carolyn Anderson, and Marilyn Threlkel.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at the Speed Memorial Church in Speed, Indiana. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Garr funeral home and on Wednesday from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the church.
