Thomas Eugene Shields

Thomas Eugene Shields, born on Wednesday, October 17th, 1962, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7th, 2025, in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

Thomas was preceded in death by his beloved father, James E. Shields, Sr., his cherished mother, Sudie Mae Shields, his sister Catherine Williams, and siblings Dorothy Hembree, James Shields, Christine Baker, and Johnny Shields. He has now joined them in eternal rest.

A proud alumnus of Silver Creek High School, Thomas dedicated many years to serving his community as a firefighter with the Sellersburg Fire Department in his younger years.

Thomas found joy in the simple pleasures of life, often found taking leisurely walks and enjoying the serenity they brought. He was especially fond of spending quality time with his nieces and nephews during their formative years, sharing stories, laughter, mischievous fun and love that have left indelible memories.

He is survived by his siblings, Elizabeth Hardin, Michael Shields, Ricky Shields, and Marcella Shields, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will forever cherish the moments they shared with their dear Uncle Thomas.

Thomas's life and legacy will be celebrated in a manner befitting his gentle and generous spirit. Arrangements are being handled with care by Garr Funeral Home.
