Theodore Carson Hamm, Sr., passed away Thursday, April 21, 2022. He succumbed to prostate cancer and died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family in Memphis, Indiana. He graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1952 and IU Bloomington in 1960 with a B.S. in Business Administration. Ted served on the first West Clark Community School Board. He was a recipient of the Conservation Farmer of the Year award. Ted worked at Jeff Boat and was a full-time farmer. He was a good steward of the land and loved all aspects of farming and gardening with his family. He also enjoyed reading and history.
Ted is preceded in death by his wife Carolyn (Dold), son Teddy, parents William and Mable (Abbott) Hamm, brothers Bud and John, and sisters Helen Bridges and Nancy Smith.
Ted is survived by his sons, Jimmy (Aliene) and Eric (Carol) Hamm. Also, his grandchildren Rebecca (Jeremey) Vanover, Clara Jefferson (Jeff), Elizabeth (Dylan) Anderson, Mary Ellen (Seth) Hughes, Kate (Andy) Majot, Jess Hamm, and Rachel (John) Dooley. Great -grandchildren are Lilly, Dakota, Aiden, Carson, Charlotte, Lincoln, Sarah, and Robbie.
Ted chose cremation with a celebration of life visitation to be held Wednesday, April 27 from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg. Interment will be Thursday, April 28 at 10:00 A.M. at Sellersburg Cemetery.
