Ruth I. (Farley) Howard

Ruth I. Howard, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully at her home in Memphis, Indiana, on Wednesday, January 15th, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on Saturday, April 6th, 1929, in Harlan, Kentucky, Ruth lived a life full of love, dedication, and care for her family and community.

Ruth moved to Jeffersonville, Indiana, at the age of 17, where she would eventually build a life centered on her family and faith. She was employed as a dietary worker at Jewish Hospital, where she diligently served for many years. Her primary passion, however, was being a homemaker. She took great pride in maintaining her home and was known for her exceptional skills in sewing, crocheting, and quilting, leaving behind treasured crafts that reflect her talent and creativity.

She found joy in tending to her flowerbeds and took pleasure in the simple beauty of nature, often spending her afternoons working in and around her home. Ruth also enjoyed fishing trips with her late husband, Finley Howard, creating countless memories that her family will cherish forever.

Ruth was a devout member of Christ Gospel Church in Jeffersonville, Indiana, where she actively participated in the Church Pillars, a senior church group that offered her spiritual support and fellowship. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, providing comfort and strength.

She is survived by her loving children: Allen Howard, Linda Harrison (Richard), and  Laura Moerer, who will continue to honor her legacy. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Bronson and Dola Farley; her beloved husband, Finley Howard; and her siblings, Clifford Farley, Freda Mae Davis, and Christine Sullivan.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation scheduled at Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg, IN, on Saturday, January 25th, 2025, from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.  A funeral service to celebrate Ruth's remarkable life will be held at Christ Gospel Church (2614 East 10th Street, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47172), on Monday, January 27th, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church.
