Robert Edward McCartin

Robert Edward McCartin, a beloved resident of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 12th, 2025, at the age of 88. Born in the same close-knit community on Wednesday, April 7th, 1937, Bob, as he was affectionately known, lived a life full of love, dedication, and joy.

Robert was the cherished son of the late Peter Bernard McCartin “Irish” and Alberta McCartin (Adams), and he was preceded in death by his dear wife, Rita McCartin, his sister Ann Friess, and brother Charles White.

A devoted family man, Robert is survived by his loving children, Marcia Eddings (Perry) and Douglas McCartin (Dana). His legacy continues through his adored grandchildren, Sarah Meyer, Lindsey Churchill (Ryan), Payton Windell, DJ McCartin (Kaeli), Hunter McCartin, and Logan McCartin, and great-grandchildren Mason Meyer, Remi Meyer, Braxton Churchill, and Braylee Churchill. Robert shared a special bond with his sisters, Pat Pearson and Mary Lou Travis (Donald), who will always remember him with fondness.

Robert worked as a printer until his well deserved retirement at Gateway Press in Louisville, Kentucky. His work reflected his dedication and meticulous nature, which extended into his community endeavors as well. A proud member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church, Bob actively contributed to the congregation and cherished coaching Silver Creek Little League and basketball for St. John Paul II.

An avid fisherman, Robert found peace and joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was on the water's edge, in the company of his loved ones, or tending his garden in earlier years. His Irish heritage filled him with pride, influencing his values and his joyous outlook on life.

A funeral mass will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday, June 16th, 2025, at St. John Paul II Catholic Church (2253 W. St. Joe Road, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172). Visitation will be held at Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172), on Sunday, June 15th, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. and on Monday from 11:00 am until the procession to the church.  Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate a life well-lived.
