Ray Nunn

Obituary

Ray Nunn, 78, entered eternal life on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He was born on September 14, 1943 to the late Charles and Ruth Nunn (Dunn) in Louisville, Kentucky. Ray was the owner of Ray’s Lawn and Garden Center and Rogers Oil Company. He was a John Deere dealer for 53 years prior to his retirement in 2019. Ray was awarded the designation of Gold Star Dealer from the John Deere Company. He was a member of the Speed Memorial Church. Ray honorably served in the Indiana National Guard. He enjoyed raising his cattle and sharing his farm with family and friends for many cookouts. Ray’s hobbies included water skiing, snow skiing and snowmobiling, especially out west in Colorado and West Yellowstone, Montana. He was an avid IU Basketball fan during the Bobby Knight era.  Of all the things Ray accomplished and enjoyed, his grandchildren where the highlight of his life. He looked forward to attending all of their many sporting events. Ray was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Carly Rae Nunn and by his 2 brother-in-laws, Norman Crouse and Phil Rogers.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Sandy Nunn of Sellersburg, his son, Chad Nunn (Christy) of Memphis, Indiana, his daughter, Andrea VanMeter (Jeffrey) of Charlestown, Indiana  and his sisters, LaDanna Crouse of Memphis, Indiana, Kay Hargesheimer (John) of Sellersburg and Lucretia Clenney (Kenny) of Sellersburg. Ray also leaves behind 4 grandchildren to cherish his memory, Jacob VanMeter, Hannah Nunn, Andrew VanMeter and Riley Nunn.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, September 5, 2022 at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with interment to follow at Silver Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Monday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
