Ralph Thomas (Tommy) Lowe Obituary

Ralph Thomas (Tommy) Lowe, 96, of Sellersburg, IN, went home to be with Jesus on December 28, 2023. He was born December 8, 1927 to Ernest and Mildred (Smith) Lowe in Jeffersonville, IN. Upon graduation from Silver Creek High School, he immediately joined the US Army. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Signal Service Corps and the Army Security Agency.

Following discharge from the Army, he married Elizabeth Broaddus, a marriage that lasted 72 years. He was retired from DuPont and spent many years serving the Christian ministry Operation Mobilization with his wife. They enjoyed traveling the country and the world. Tom also enjoyed playing basketball, softball, and golf. Most important to him was his faith and his family.

He strongly believed in the Great Commission for not just his family but everyone he met. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matt. 28:17-20. Tom carried out this commission not only with words but with action, love, and the example of his life, making disciples throughout the world and being a guiding light to the youth in his community.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Stewart Sellers, and sister, Garnett Martin. He is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth, children: Alice Tonkin (Glenn) of Carbondale, PA; Debbie Roehm (Terry) of Monroe, NC; Melanie Smith (Greg) of Sun Lakes, AZ; and Tom Lowe (Leah) of Charlestown, IN. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild, and 13 great grandchildren.

Tom would say to each of you: “For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course. I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but to all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Tim4:6-8.
