Mikell Rankin Baize

Mikell Rankin Baize, 76, entered into eternal life on July 11, 2023

She was born in Shelbyville, Kentucky to the late Billy Lee and Arovinia Rankin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh (Kiernan) Baize; and her sister Betsy Lee Rankin Bell.  Mike has 2 surving siblings, Teresa Rankin Hoffman and Billy Boyd Rankin.

Mike was a child of God. Her faith was never shaken.  She was a witness to others simply by the way she lived her life.

She will be remembered for her kind heart and gentle spirit.  The love she showed to her family, friends, and others in the community is a tribute to her.

Mike had to overcome many health challenges, she had polio as a child and had to adapt to her limitations.  She was a fighter with a strong will that served her well to overcome adversity throughout her life.  She loved to travel and enjoyed driving her car and riding her bike.  Mike’s greatest love was spending time with her sister Teresa and her husband Bill, as well as her nieces and nephews.

Her intelligent humor with family and friends was tremendous.  She could light up a room with her smile and wit. Her ability to make clever remarks could fill the room with laughter.

She will be missed more than words can express.  She made us better simply by knowing her and sharing our time together.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 17, 2023 at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with entombment to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. and Monday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
