Mary Roberta Bailey was born on August 15, 1923 in Speed, Indiana and passed on June 28, 2025. She was born to the late Ed and Lula Johnson and was a life- long resident of Sellersburg, IN. She and her husband Elwood Bailey had three children: Marianne McIntyre (Dave), Terre Haute, Indiana; Reid Bailey (Mary Lynne), Morrison, Colorado, and Woody, who preceded her in death.
In addition to her parents, her husband, and her son, Mary was preceded in death by her siblings Glenn, Raymond, Joe, Edna, Evelyn, Katherine and Wilma Jean, and her beloved grandson Tad. In her later years Mary lived with her daughter in Terre Haute and was surrounded by a warm loving family. She loved this family time. She was a charter member of Speed Memorial Church and was very active in all church activities. Mary was president of the Women’s Christian Fellowship for many years and she dearly loved her church and her many friends there. She was a member of the Knot too Shabby Knitters and loved playing with her bridge group. She worked at the Speed Store and even skied on the Ohio River.
Mary loved and cherished her family. She was an excellent cook, and welcomed family and friends every week for a Sunday dinner with all the fixings. She is survived by her two children; 7 grandchildren: Kyle Bailey, Beth Bailey VanAirdale, Drew Bailey, Paul Bailey, Ian McIntyre, Sara McIntyre-Cox, and Lindsay McIntyre, and 18 great-grandchildren.
She had a full and wonderful life. Mary leaves behind many memories of a life well lived for 101 years.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at 12:00 noon at Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) with interment to follow at Graceland Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
