Mary Louise Baumann, 88, gracefully entered eternal life at Charlestown Place in New Albany, Indiana, on Saturday, March 9, 2024. Born at home in Memphis, Indiana on August 29, 1935, she was the beloved daughter of the late Paul and Mary Ehringer (Schafer). Mary's life was adorned with the joys of homemaking and devotion to her faith as a lifelong member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church. She found solace and camaraderie as a cherished member of the church quilters, where her hands stitched love and warmth into every creation.
Alongside her late husband Anthony, Mary found delight in the lively rhythms of square dancing. In her moments of leisure, she sought tranquility by the water's edge, indulging in the timeless pleasure of fishing at the family lake on their property. Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Anthony W. Baumann, by her sister, Carolyn “Bits” Ehringer, by her sister-in-law, Wilma Ehringer and by her son-in-law, Ralph M. Lilly.
Survivors include her sons, James Baumann (Charline) of New Albany, Indiana, Robert “Moose” Baumann (Shirley) of Sellersburg, Indiana, her daughters, Mary Pat Lilly of Otisco, Indiana, Teresa Woodson (Dave) of Sellersburg, her brother, Paul “Steve” Ehringer of Sellersburg and her grandchildren, Richard Holliday (Dawn), Jacob Holliday, Crista Steier (Terry), Andrea Cotton, Trisha Pooler (Shawn), Tiffany Huffmon (Brad) and Daniel Woodson. Mary also leaves 10 great-grandchildren to cherish her legacy.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Charlestown Place and Hosparus of Southern Indiana for their unwavering care and support during Mary's time with them.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, March 18, 2024 at St. John Paul II Catholic Church (2253 West St. Joe Road, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) with interment in the St. Joe Hill Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Sunday at Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) visitation will resume on Monday at 9:00 A.M. until procession to church.
