Linda Sue (Applegate) Stewart

Linda Sue Stewart, born in Scottsburg, Indiana on March 28th, 1939, passed away peacefully on February 10th, 2026,  in New Albany, Indiana. Linda lived a life dedicated to her family, community, and faith, leaving behind a legacy of love and service.

Linda was a pillar in her community, known for her impressive career at the Clark County Indiana Court House in the Auditors office, where she served with distinction as the Chief Deputy Clerk. Her commitment to civic duty extended beyond her professional life. Linda was a proud member of Speed Memorial Church and held leadership positions as the Past President of the Police Commissioners and the Kiwanis Club, where she worked tirelessly for the betterment of her community.

Linda is survived by her loving family, who were the center of her world. She leaves behind her sons, Monty Stewart (April) and Kevin R. Stewart (Robin), and  her cherished grandchildren, Blake Stewart, Olivia McClure (Jairus), Kevin A. Stewart and Alexa Destephanis (Jack). Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Annabelle Sheets, David Aquino, and Elsie McClure.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Robert "Bob" Stewart, her parents, Roy and Marjorie Applegate, and her dear grandchildren, Kim Aquino, Lauren Stewart, and Kayla Stewart. She also joins her great-grandchild, Esme McClure, in eternal peace.

A visitation will be held at Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) on Friday, February 13th, 2026, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm to celebrate Linda's remarkable life.  Interment will take place in Sellersburg Cemetery following the funeral.
