John E. Ehringer

John E. Ehringer, 83, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. He was born on April 27, 1941, in Speed, Indiana.

John served his country honorably in the United States Army, a commitment that defined his character and dedication to others. After his military service, he pursued a successful career at Pillsbury, where he retired as a maintenance supervisor, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

A devoted member of Bethany Christian Church in Charlestown and a proud member of the American Legion Post 204 in Sellersburg, John lived a life rooted in faith, service, and community.

In his leisure time, John found joy in the great outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, camper, and golfer, enjoying many peaceful days surrounded by nature. He also had a passion for travel, especially spending winters in Florida with his beloved wife, Judy.

John was preceded in death by his grandson, Jordan Dean; his mother, Matilda Mikel, his brother, Larry Mikel; and by his grandparents who raised him, Robert and Mary Ehringer.

Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Judy Ehringer (Clem) of Sellersburg, his son, Jeffery Ehringer (Erica) of New Salisbury, Indiana, his daughters, Kimberly Dean (Harold) of Memphis, Indiana, Lori Fleeman (Jack) of Sellersburg, his sister, Linda Basham (John) of Charlestown, Indiana and his grandchildren, Jackson Ehringer, Everett Ehringer, Graham Ehringer, Kinsey Dean, Dylan Dean, Gabi Howard (Janae), Max Fleeman and Jonathan Fleeman. John also leaves his three great- grandchildren to cherish his memory, Ella, Alder and Malcolm.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at the Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) with interment to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
