Jewell Mae Stockdell, age 101, entered eternal life on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at her home in Charlestown, Indiana. She was born on February 17, 1920 to the late Harvey and Addie Hardin (Casteel) in Willisburg, Kentucky. Jewell was a homemaker and a member of the Eastside Christian Church of Jeffersonville. During World War II and the Viet Nam War, Jewell worked at Dupont and Olin Mathieson assisting with the war efforts. She also worked at the Methodist Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky as a housekeeper. Jewell was very talented when it came to needlework. She created stunning quilts and crochet pieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Eugene Stockdell, Sr. , by her daughter-in-law, Deborah Rose and by several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her sons, Vincent E. Stockdell II (Janet), R. Kevin Stockdell (Jean), S. Otis Stockdell, her daughter, Elizabeth I. Stockdell, her grandchildren, Heather, Eric, Jonathan, Seth and Shannon. Jewell also leaves behind 3 great-grandchildren to cherish her legacy.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with interment to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
