James F. Pugh Obituary

James F. Pugh passed peacefully on December 17, 2024 surrounded by his family at Westminster Health Care Center in Clarksville, IN. Jim was born on June 18, 1949 in Logansport, IN to Gerald and Ruth Pugh. He was married to Susan Rose Pugh on November 28, 1968 and they just celebrated their 56th anniversary on Thanksgiving.

That had been his best day and he talked about our traditional Christmas Eve with all of his family. He was excited about everyone being in our home for lasagna and the basket game. He gave out a door prize and winning was always competitive.

Jim was an avid biker, coming home after a long day at work and riding ten to thirty miles of the curvy hilly roads north of Sellersburg, IN. Always competitive, he pushed himself to the limit in everything he did. A lover of chess and euchre, he made sure his children and grandchildren knew everything about these "games". Teaching his grandsons every poker game known was something he loved so much. Before and after retirement he enjoyed caring for his lawn and always had a woodworking project going.

In 1987 he was transferred by Kent Feeds to Louisville, KY and he retired as a Quality Control Supervisor from that company enjoying many years doing what he loved, trips to Lake Erie, the Gulf Coast, camping with his grandsons, and hanging out with his Setters, Rhippah and Josey.

Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Susan Rose Pugh, his children, Scott Pugh, Amy (Troy) Compton, and Jacob Pugh, and grandsons Alex (Jean-Anne) Compton, Ben (Gia) Compton, and Max Compton, and granddaughters Lauren (Logan) Dehn, Julie Pugh and Braelyn Hurley-Pugh and great granddaughter Avery Compton, He is also survived by his brothers, Kenny (Laurie) Pugh and Julian (Linda) Pugh and sister, Kathy Buskirk. He was preceded in death by his parents and oldest brother Jerry (Marian) Pugh. He loved his big Irish Setter, Fiona and his two cats, Hugo and Louie James.

There will not be a service or burial as he has chosen cremation. If you would like to make donations in his name, please consider Parkinson's Foundation and Lewy Body Dementia Research.

We would like to thank the nurses and doctors of Baptist Health Floyd for his loving care during the seventeen days he was a patient.
