Helen Louise (Prather) LaMaster

Helen Louise LaMaster, a cherished member of the Sellersburg, Indiana community, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22nd, 2025, at the age of 98. Born on Saturday, June 5th, 1926 at home in Sellersburg Indiana, Helen led a life marked by devotion, creativity, and warmth.

Helen was the beloved daughter of Roy Raymond Prather and Edna Katherine Prather, who preceded her in death, along with her beloved husband, Allen Clinton LaMaster. Helen and Clinton shared a deep and loving bond, forming countless memories together until his passing in 1997. Their love story included a memorable trip to the Rocky Mountains, where they were united in marriage.

A dedicated and committed employee, Helen retired from Colgate-Palmolive Company after a impressive 36-year tenure in the payroll department. Her loyalty and dedication were further showcased through her involvement with the Colgate Retirement Club, where she kept close connections with her professional community.

Helen found great joy in her membership with the Sellersburg Church of Christ, often dedicating her time and talents to her church family. Her life was also decorated with creativity as she was a talented seamstress, known for her skillful creations that ranged from dresses and skirts to quilts and handbags. Her love for crocheting further highlighted her artistic abilities.

A genuine homemaker, Helen took pride in the house she and Clinton built in 1983, which stood as a testament to their love and partnership. She continued to live there until her peaceful passing, creating a haven of warmth and love for all who visited.

Helen was preceded in death by her three brothers, Earl, Victor and David Prather and by her nephew, Michael Prather.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Sharon Pfister, Jan Rios (David), Mary K. Byrd, Roger Prather (Donna), Rex Prather (Marcia) and Eric Prather. Helen leaves many great-nieces and nephews to cherish her legacy.

The family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate Helen's distinguished life during a visitation at Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg, Indiana, scheduled for Tuesday, January 28th, 2025, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 am at the same location. Burial will follow at Sellersburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Sellersburg Church of Christ or to Maple Manor Christian Home.
