Helen Bierly

Helen Bierly, 86, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 14, 1938, in Borden, IN, she was the cherished daughter of the late Wilmer and Adeline Waggoner.

Helen dedicated much of her life to serving the community as a devoted employee at Silver Creek High School. Known affectionately as "The Little Debbie Lady," she touched the lives of many with her warmth and kindness. Her unwavering commitment to her work earned her respect and admiration from colleagues and students alike.

Beyond her professional life, Helen found immense joy in her personal pursuits. She was a 50 year member of Eastern Star, and a nearly life long member of Pleasant View Methodist Church. She shared a deep and enduring love with her husband of 68 years, William. Together, they enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, traveling around the country with the Coachman Club, with fishing being a particular passion they relished side by side.

Though saddened by the loss of her daughter Connie Bierly and her grandson Jeremy Brown, Helen's legacy of love and strength lives on through her surviving family. Her memory will be cherished by her beloved husband William, her son Bill Bierly (Amanda), her daughters Stephanie Grana (Dan) and Janet Brown (Darryl Kepley), along with 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the funeral service, which will be held at Garr Funeral Home, 7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 7, followed by burial at Miller Cemetery. Visitation hours are scheduled for Monday, May 6, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.

Helen Bierly will be remembered for her unwavering love, her gentle spirit, and her profound impact on those fortunate enough to have known her. May her memory continue to inspire and bring comfort to all who were touched by her presence.
