Gerry Lee Appell

Gerry Lee Appell, aged 76, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 27th, 2025. Born on Tuesday, April 12th, 1949, in New Albany, Indiana, Gerry's life was a testament to community spirit, familial dedication, and a passion for the simple joys of life.

Gerry spent much of his career as a dedicated clerk at the Census Bureau, where his hard work and commitment did not go unnoticed. His vibrant presence left a lasting impression on his colleagues and friends. Despite the challenges life presented, Gerry always looked at life's bright side, capturing joys in his deep-rooted interest in collecting guns and experimenting with fireworks. His unique ability to bring colors to life through fireworks was a testament to his curious and creative spirit.

A lover of the great outdoors, Gerry found solace in fishing and hunting, pursuits that brought him closer to nature and provided cherished memories with friends and family. His faith was an essential part of his life, and he was a long-standing member of the Sellersburg United Methodist Church, where he formed many lifelong friendships.

Gerry was preceded in death by his cherished brother, Terry Joe Appell, his sister, Judy Watson,  his father, Joseph Robert Appell, and  his mother, Edith Ruth Appell. His memory will endure through his surviving brother, Gary Appell, his aunt Wanda Werncke and his cousins Mark and Greg Werncke.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the visitation, which will be held at Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) on Wednesday, December 31st, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The funeral service will take place at Garr Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 31st, 2025, at 1:00 pm
