Elizabeth Rose Swindall “Bette”, age 93, entered eternal life on Friday, October 8, 2021 at St. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born on November 19, 1927 to the late William and Draxie Johns (Hopkins) in Shelbiana, Kentucky. Bette Rose graduated from Betsy Layne High School and later furthered her studies at Pikeville College. She was a former member of the Blue Lick Christian Church where her loving husband, Homer Swindall was a minister for years. Bette Rose was a talented musician. She played the piano and the organ for many churches in the Louisville and Southern Indiana area. She passed on her talent to generations of students that she instructed over the years. Following her husband’s passing her music students and their families became her extended family. Although Bette Rose left the hills and hollers of Eastern, Kentucky decades ago, they were never far from her. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Survivors include her son, Tony Swindall (Peggy) of Louisville, Kentucky and her niece, Misty White (Bob) of Charlestown, Indiana, who was like a daughter to her, her grandchildren, Jaon Appel (Amy) Avon Lake, Ohio, Michael Swindall (Dorsey) of Louisville and Maggie Robertson (Tyler) of Greenville, South Carolina. Granny also leaves behind 7 great-grandchildren to cherish her memory, Jacob, Luke, Alex, Camp, Betsy, Jack and George.
