Eleanor Jane (Baker) Curtis

Jane Curtis, 93, Sellersburg, passed away on Sunday morning, July 16, 2023, at Traditions assisted living facility. She was born July 29, 1929 in ​Campbellsburg, IN, to the late Roy and ​Celia Baker. Jane graduated from Campbellsburg High School in 1947. She went to nursing school at John N. Norton Memorial Infirmary and became a registered nurse in 1956. She attended Sellersburg United Methodist Church.

Jane married Carl J. Curtis, who worked for Colgate, and they had 3 children, Butch, Carla Jane, and Rick. You could often find Jane in the garden or in her sunroom drinking tea. She always kept an eye out for pesky rabbits or squirrels trying to sneak a taste of the "Baker bean." Jane enjoyed crossword puzzles and antique collecting. She was a sensible and independent woman, often described as "no-nonsense" and had the biggest heart. Jane's family, her kids and grandkids especially, were her pride and joy.

Survivors are her grandchildren, Taylor Renee Curtis and Andrew Miles Curtis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl J. Curtis, as well as her children, Carl Eugene "Butch" Curtis, Carla Jane Curtis, and Richard Andrew Curtis.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at. the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with interment to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
