Donald Smith Obituary

Donald Smith, 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 14, 2022 at Meadow View Health and Rehab in Salem, Indiana. He was born on December 29, 1941 to the late Crit and Nora Smith in Hyden, Kentucky. Donald proudly served his country in the United States Air Force while being stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. He retired from Southern Gravure Printing in Louisville, Kentucky. During his retirement years, Donald drove a school bus for Salem Community Schools for almost 19 years. As a member of the Louisville Racing Pigeon Club, he enjoyed raising and racing show winning pigeons. He also had a passion for planting flowers and fishing in his 22 acre lake. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Bradley Smith and by his sister, JoAnn Smith.  

 

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Diana Smith of Pekin, Indiana, his son, Carlton Smith (Christie), his daughter, Shenan Campbell (Todd) and his brother, Ronald Smith (Wanda). Donald also leaves behind 4 grandchildren to cherish his memory, Brittany Robbins (Joseph) Alexandra Beck (Gabe), Devan Smith and Gabriel Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with interment to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville. Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
