Dana Gene Way, 71, entered eternal life on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, just in time to be with the love of his life for Valentines Day. He was born on May 18, 1951 to the late Eugene and Juanita Way (Werley) in Salzburg, Austria. Dana was the child of a military family and followed suit. He honorably and proudly served his country in the United States Army. Dana retired from the Ford Motor Company where he worked in production at the Louisville Assembly Plant. He was a card caring member of the American Legion Posts 42 (Floyds Knobs) and Post 28 (Bonnie Sloan). Dana was a member of the 40 & 8 Club, the Good Sams Camping Club and the Bush Boyz Motor Cycle Club. He participated in the Run for the Wall Memorial Ride, Toys for Tots and accomplished the Tail of the Dragon on his Harley-Davidson at the young age of 69. Dana enjoyed anything with a motor, especially Harley-Davidsons and Mustangs. When he wasn’t riding his Harley through the countryside he enjoyed hiking in nature, cooking for his family and friends and hanging out in his shop. Dana was preceded in death by his loving wife just one year ago, Carol Way.
Survivors include his daughters, Danita Rude (Derrick) of Bedford, Indiana, Morgan Bush (Justin) of Georgetown, Indiana, his brothers, Gary Way (Pam) of Texas, Tony Way of Texas, Mark Way of Texas and his step-mother, Janey Mobley (John) of Texas and his grandchildren, Zack Stinson, Macy Hicks, Zoey, Will Riley, Ruby Riley, Jett Bush and Lexi Bush. Dana also leaves 8 great-grandchildren to cherish his memory.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February, 18, 2023 at Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) with interment to follow at Wolfe Cemetery in Georgetown, Indiana. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
