Brenda S. (Stephens) Cardwell

Brenda S. Cardwell, a beloved homemaker and cherished member of the Lanesville, IN community, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 25th, 2025, at the age of 52. Brenda was born on Wednesday, November 29th, 1972, in Louisville, Kentucky, and spent her life dedicated to her family and her many passions.

Brenda is survived by her devoted husband, James Lee Cardwell, who resides in Lanesville, Indiana. She was a loving mother to her sons, James Cardwell, Jesse Cardwell and his wife Kelsey, and Johnathan Cardwell. Her nurturing spirit also extended to her granddaughter, Cecillia Cardwell, who she adored deeply.

Brenda was the treasured daughter of Janice Sue Stephens and a dear sister to Sherry Mouser. She was a beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews, Raven Mouser, Dillon Mouser, Amber Cardwell, and Crystal Wilson. Brenda's family included her brother-in-law, William Cardwell, and her parents-in-law, Annette "Ann" Cardwell and William Cardwell, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Throughout her life, Brenda found joy in the simple pleasures of homemaking. She was an avid enthusiast of fingernail design and found relaxation in the art of cooking, always eager to try new recipes. Her green thumb was evident in the vibrant vegetables and flowers that flourished under her care. Brenda’s heart was also deeply touched by her five feline companions, who were as much a part of her family as anyone else.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation at Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) on Saturday, March 1st, 2025, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. A funeral service to honor Brenda’s life and legacy will follow at 6:00 pm at the same location.
