Bernard Ray Broadus, Sr. ,86, entered eternal life on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital in New Albany, Indiana. He was born at home on January 17, 1935 in Speed, Indiana to the late Herman and Ethel Broadus (Briner). Mr. Broadus honorably served our country in the United States Navy. He retired from the Louisville Cement Company where he worked as a Lead Man. Mr. Broadus was a member of the St. John Paul II Catholic Church (St. Paul Campus) of Sellersburg and the American Legion Post 204 also of Sellersburg. He enjoyed being in the great outdoors. In the early years he thoroughly enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Broadus was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim Broadus, Patrick Broadus and by his sisters, Eltheda Sellers, Juanita Neville, Artie Jennings, Jean Brishaber and Betty Grimm.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Emilia Broadus of Sellersburg, his sons, Bernard Broadus, Jr. (Carol) of Georgetown, Indiana, Patrick Broadus of Indianapolis, Indiana, Alan Broadus (Nina) of Indianapolis, Indiana, his daughters, Maria Sellers (Richard) of Greenville, Indiana, Carmela Broadus (Joe) of Ramsey, Indiana, his brothers, Ivan Broadus (Goldie) and Ronald Broadus. Mr. Broadus also leaves behind 12 Grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren to cherish his memory.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with entombment to follow at Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany. Visitation will take place on Monday from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service in at the funeral home.
