Barbara Jean (Leitner) Baird

Barbara Jean Baird, 68, of Henryville, Indiana went home at 8:53 A.M. on Wednesday July 22, 2020 at her home with her family by her side. Barbara was born on April 16, 1952 in New Albany, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late Charles Leitner and Betty Miller who still resides in Henryville.  Barbara was employed by the United States Census Bureau and retired in 2016 after 30 years of service. Barbara was a member of the St. John Paul II Catholic Community and her faith was an important part of her daily life which got her through the Hardest of times. On April 27, 1973 she married the love of her life William Lee Baird. She is survived by her three children, William Baird, Jr. (Heather) of Charlestown, Angela Higdon (Thomas) of Henryville, Vangela Baird of Charlestown, eight grandchildren, Matthew Baird, Kyle Baird, Gage Higdon, Clayton Higdon, Owen Higdon,  Quinton Fetz, Dylan Fetz (Sara), Hunter Lyons, and one great grandchild, Liam Fetz. She also leaves behind 3 siblings, Robert Leitner (Claudette), Karen Bridges (Kevin), Michelle North (Will), two step-siblings, Penny Cleveland (Jay), Dwayne Miller (Karen) and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, July 27, 2020 at the St. John Paul II Catholic Church (St. Paul Campus) in Sellersburg with cremation to follow per her wishes. Visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 A.M. until 1:45 P.M. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. John Paul II Catholic Church building fund (216 Schellers Ave. Sellersburg, Indiana 47172).
