Agnes Ann Allen

Agnes Ann Allen, 82, entered eternal life on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Hill Crest Village in Jeffersonville, Indiana. She was born on July 31,1940 to the late John and Hazel Winkley in Newport, New Hampshire. Agnes was a homemaker for most of her life. She was a member of the Grace Assembly of God Church in Palmyra, Indiana and the Order of the Eastern Star. Agnes was a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. She had an unmatched love for gardening and she passed that love down through the generations. Her daughter and granddaughter are avid gardeners. Agnes had a genuine heart of gold. She often would counsel and pray for people who needed it. Agnes found joy in serving others and often volunteered for her local food pantries throughout her life. In her free time she enjoyed spending time with her family and going out to eat. Agnes was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Preston Allen and by her brother, David Winkley.

Survivors include her sons, Joseph Allen (Terry) of Palmyra, Indiana, John C. Allen of Palmyra, Indiana, her daughter, Barbara Stroud (Rick) of Jeffersonville, Indiana, her brother, Jack Winkley (Diane) of Pueblo, Colorado and her sister, Martha Meisel (Martin) of New York. Agnes also leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren to cherish her memory.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with interment to follow at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
