Wilma Rose (Clegg) Wininger , 94, of Henryville passed away on August 12, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Nabb, IN on January 8, 1930 to the late Carl Clegg, Sr. and Ella (Zollman) Clegg. She attended Lexington High School. She married Bill Edward Wininger on December 24, 1951.

Rose will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was an avid runner and ran in over 190 races, including nine mini-marathons.  She received numerous trophies and medals. She made scrapbooks so she could keep her bibs, newspaper articles, and photographs together. She loved that some of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren are runners too.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill Edward; sisters Frieda Close, Frances Stoffregen, and Betty Barnard; brothers Junior Clegg, Herman Clegg, and Albert Clegg.

Rose is survived by her children Brenda Berryman (Richard) of New Albany, Belinda Milton of Jacksonville, FL, Billy Joe Wininger of Henryville, and Walter Wininger of New Albany; brother, Dale Clegg of Columbus, IN; grandchildren Angela Wininger, Lisa Chandler, Todd Berryman (Abby), Brittany Milton, Kimberlee Milton (Joe); great-grandchildren Taryn Brown, Dylan and Carson Chandler, Kate and Margo Berryman, and Evelyn and Jamison Irvin.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 15 at 2:00 PM at Garr Funeral Home, 7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hosparus Health of Southern Indiana. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
