Obituary

William Franklin Watson Jr. , a beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at the age of 82 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Corydon, Indiana, William eventually made his home in Clarksville, Indiana, where he became a cherished member of the community.

William is survived by his loving children, Tammy Jane Watson, Billy Watson, Ronnie Watson (Jeanie) and Madeline Hamby (Paul), who will forever cherish the memories and life lessons imparted by their father. He also leaves behind dear siblings: Wilma Lanham (Donnie), Carol Velez-Vermillion (Kiki), Sharon Murray (John), Michael Watson (Theresa) and Mark Watson. He also leaves 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren to cherish his memory. William joins his parents, William F. Watson Sr. and Grethel M. Watson, his wife Jeannie Watson, and brothers Delbert Watson, Earl Watson, Clarence Watson, and Darrell Watson in eternal rest.

William proudly served his country in the United States Army. After his military service, he became a skilled mechanic and truck driver, a profession that connected him with numerous friends who became family. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to found River City Wrecker Service, further cementing his role in the community. He was not only a skilled mechanic but also a passionate car racer, known to race at the Sportsdrome Speedway and the Kentucky Fair Grounds.

Blessed with a great sense of humor, William was notorious for his funny sayings like "I'm still a cop" and "I was in the army with Elvis." His humor, kindness, and love for adventure touched the lives of many.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at the Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) with interment to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
