William Ronald “Ronnie” Nokes, 87, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at 12:10am.

Ronnie is the son of William O. and Lyda Nokes. He was a dedicated and hardworking man, retiring from Altec after 46 years of service. On May 23, 1959, Ronnie married the love of his life, Joyce Harbin. Together, they shared 66 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered around love, family, and a deep faith in the Lord. Ronnie’s walk with the Lord began many years ago at the Nazarene Church in Clarksville, Indiana. He was currently a faithful member of the Cornerstone Church in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He loved the Lord with all of his heart and remained devoted in service until the day God called him home.

Ronnie cherished his roles as a husband, father, grandpa/papaw and great-grandpa. His children, and especially his grandchildren, meant the world to him.

Ronnie is survived by his beloved wife Joyce Nokes; his children – Steven Nokes (Linda), of Sellersburg, Indiana, Rebecca Jordan (John) of Corydon, Indiana, William Daniel Nokes (Deanna) of Mooresville, IN. His grandchildren – Kris Nokes (Rachel) of Tyler Texas, Jennifer Nokes of New Albany, Indiana, Jonathan Jordan (Janell) of Corydon, Indiana, Dana Galoozis (Charlie) of Bargersville, IN, Dustin Nokes of Mooresville, Indiana; and his three great- grandchildren, Jovie Galoozis, Mary Jordan and Ava Galoozis.

Ronnie was one of eleven siblings: Sonny, Dorothy, Anne, Martha, Betty, Ruthie, MarJane, Johnny, Shirley, and Jerry

He prayed faithfully for his family and friends, and if He were here today, his message to you would be from Romans 10:13: “For whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” There is no doubt that Ronnie is in Heaven, waiting for you.

Funeral services will be held at Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg, Indiana, on Thursday, April 23, 2026. Visitation will begin at 9:00am, followed by the service at 11:00am, officiated by Bro. Dodrill and Bro. Wright. Burial will follow at Walnut Ridge in Jeffersonville, Indiana. An additional visitation will also be held on Wednesday, April 22,

2026, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.

Ronnie will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew and loved him. His love, legacy, and wisdom will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
