Shirley Anne Casteel, 85, went home to Jesus on Saturday, September 12, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 20, 1941, to the late Roscoe and Thelma Hensley. Shirley was a retired sewing operator at ICI Americas.

She was a devoted Christian woman. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she served her church in various committees, including the church bus ministry. Shirley battled Alzheimer’s disease for five years. Her family lost a devoted wife, mother, nanny and great-grandmother. Shirley cared deeply for the happiness and well being of her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert V. Casteel. Shirley is survived by her two children, Ricky V. Casteel (Leslie) and Vickie Wilson (Dexter) ; her grandchildren, Linda Durham (Brent), Richard Casteel (Amanda), Jillian Wilson Hendricks (Benjamin), Bailey Wilson Tuttle (Ryan), and Danielle Boutelle (Jason); ten great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Doris Pitts and Nancy Casteel

Public visitation will be held at Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m.

Private entombment will follow on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
