Sharon Kay Huckleberry , 75, entered eternal life at her home in Sellersburg on Thursday, July 14, 2022. She was born to the late Jake and Frances Hines (Beyl) in New Albany, Indiana on June 26, 1947. Sharon retired from the United States Veteran Affairs where she worked in purchasing. She was a past president of the Kentucky Colonels and the National Campers and Hikers Association (N.C.H.A.). Sharon enjoyed her time as a member of the Red Hat Society. She was the loving wife of Charles Douglas Huckleberry. Sharon and Charles extended their love and their home to many foster children over the years, caring for 108 children until forever homes could be found. She was very talented in the craft department. She was the past owner of Home Town Ceramics of Sellersburg. Sharon enjoyed crocheting, sewing, working in her flowers and shopping. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Joyce Anne Hines Fackler, Elinore Lee Hines Baker, her nieces, Fran Fackler, Christina Forsythe and by her nephew, Timothy Baker.
Survivors include her children, Tamera Lynn Nash (Kent) of Indiana, Gwendolyn Joy Ashley (Ray) of Texas, Sharolyn Kay Morris (Jay) of Illinois, her grandchildren, Kyle Evan Nash (Emily) of Indiana, Landyn Michael Nash, Amanda Dawn Nash of Texas, Hannah Kay Logan of Illinois, Shelby Lynn Shultz of Washington, Savannah Kay Shultz of Illinois, Ira Lee Logan of Indiana, Zachary Bryant Shultz of Illinois, her great grandchildren, Clayton Michael Graham, Waylon Cole Wood, Kayden James Wood, Kerry Ann Nash, her nieces and nephews, Debbie Fackler, Duayne Fackler, Joe Fackler (Lisa) Angela Fackler Boyer (Billy), Jeffrey Baker (Sara) and Dawn Baker. Sharon also leaves behind 11 great nieces and nephews to cherish her memory.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with interment to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
