Ms. Sammy M. Carpenter , 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 29, 2021 at Westminster Village Kentuckiana in Clarksville. She was born on May 28, 1935 to the late John and Louise Thompson (Craig) in Louisville, Kentucky. Sammy enjoyed reading and professional football especially the Chicago Bears. She was an all time fan of country music singer Alan Jackson. Sammy was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Carpenter, by her brothers, Jerry and Jackie Thompson, by her dog, Chance and her two cats, Amber and Bad Boy.

Survivors include her sons, Darrell Short (DeeDee) of Memphis, Indiana, Terry Kessinger of Fort Myers, Florida and Ted Kessinger of Jeffersonville, Indiana. Sammy also leaves behind 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren to cherish her memory.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 3, 2021 at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with interment to follow at Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Friday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
