Sally P. Stokes , 82, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Maple Manor Christian Home in Sellersburg. She was born on May 5, 1934 to the late Melvin and Bessie Phillips in San Diego, California. In her spare time from operating her in-home day care, she enjoyed crocheting, sewing, baking, and playing the piano. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Stokes and her sister, Edna Lu Becker. Survivors include her son, James (Eileen) Stokes of Spring Lake, New Jersey, her daughters, Karen (Gary) Hawn of Sellersburg, Susie (Bob) Pierce of Sellersburg, and Amy (John) Sturgis also of Sellersburg. She also leaves behind one brother, Charles (Margaret) Phillips of Florida, 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. A private service will be held at a later date for Mrs. Stokes.
