Obituary

Russell Glen Carnes, Sr. , 73,  entered eternity on Saturday, August 31, 2024. Born on March 26, 1951, in Louisville, Russell was the beloved son of the late Paul and Vedna (Kinkade) Carnes. Russell was a man of many talents and passions. He spent his career as a dedicated electrician. He retired from Voss Clark, where he served many years. He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. His commitment to his craft was further demonstrated by his degree in industrial maintenance from Ivy Tech, a testament to his drive for excellence and lifelong learning. Outside of work, Russell found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid painter, often losing himself in the strokes of his brush. His love for karaoke brought music and laughter to those around him, and he never missed a chance to cheer on his beloved Kentucky Wildcats, especially during basketball season. Russell was also an outdoorsman at heart, finding peace in fishing, gardening, and caring for his cherished chickens. Above all, Russell treasured the time spent with his family. His love for them was boundless, and his presence was a constant source of warmth and comfort. In his retirement years, he found great joy in the company of his dear friends, Tom and Judy, with whom he shared countless memories and laughter. Russell was preceded in death by the love of his life in October of 2021, Connie Carnes. They shared 52 wonderful years together.

Survivors include his son, Russell Carnes, Jr. of Memphis, Indiana, his daughter, Cindy Mason (Stephen) of Charlestown, Indiana, his brother, Lonnie Carnes (Michelle) of New Albany, Indiana, his sisters, Terry Duran (Nick) of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Vonna Eicher of Louisville, Kentucky. Russell also leaves his three beloved grandchildren, Justin Carnes, Kirstin Salmen (Phillip), Lauren Mason and his great-granddaughter, Stella Grace Carnes to cherish his legacy.
