Robert Verlin Casteel, 75, went home to be with Jesus on December 14, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 7, 1941 in Pennington Gap, Virginia to the late Napoleon and Hazel Casteel. Robert graduated from Clarksville Senior High and was a retired machinist at Philip Morris, Inc. He served for many years as a deacon at First Baptist Church in Sellersburg. Robert battled cancer for eight years. Our family has lost a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Robert cared deeply for the happiness and well being of his family and friends. He was and always will be our HERO.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Hensley Casteel, children, Ricky V. (Leslie) Casteel, Vickie Casteel (Dexter) Wilson, and Nancy Casteel, grandchildren, Linda Casteel (Brent) Durham, Richard (Amanda) Casteel, Jillian Wilson (Benjamin) Hendricks, Danielle Engleman, and Bailey Wilson, eight great-grandchildren, two sisters, Wilma (Bert) Campbell, and Doris Pitts.

Visitation will be held at Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg on Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 3 to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. Entombment will follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Garden in New Albany, Indiana.
