Rita McCartin, 84, entered into eternal life on Saturday, January 14, 2023.

She was born in Taswell, Indiana on March 18, 1938 to the late Sherman Russell and Edna Taylor, and grew up in New Albany.

Rita was an administrative secretary for over 40 years at Indiana University, Southeast and was a proud supporter of all IU athletics.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and Me-maw (or great-grandmother). She loved spending time with her family and friends, being with her great-grandchildren and watching IU basketball.

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 65 years, Robert McCartin; daughter Marcia Eddings (Perry); son Douglas McCartin (Dana); sisters Juanita Carter and Sue Dowdell; grandchildren Sarah Meyer, Lindsey Churchill (Ryan), DJ McCartin, Hunter McCartin, Logan McCartin, and Payton Windell; great-grandchildren Mason Meyer, Remi Meyer, Braxton Churchill, Braylee Churchill.

Her funeral mass will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John Paul II Catholic Church 2605 W. St. Joe Rd, Sellersburg with interment to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 18, 2023 from  2:00 P.M until  8:00 P.M. at Garr Funeral Home, 7806 Hwy 311, Sellersburg. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:00 A.M. until the processional to church.
