PRESTON WETHINGTON, 82, the Angels came to take him home December 7, 2015. He was born in Casey County, Kentucky to Samuel and Floy Wethington on May 6, 1933. He graduated from St. Bernards High School in 1951 in Clementsville, Kentucky. He served 8 years in the United States Military, 3 years in Turkey at a U.S. Airforce Base. He returned home and worked in Public Service, Catering Services and General Electric Corporation. Preston then became a partner and manager in the business field until his retirement. He is preceded in death by daughter, Marsha Noel and son, Wayne , his father and mother, 2 brothers, 2 sisters and a niece and nephew.
Surviving are:
Beloved wife of 48 years, Marty, granddaughter- Melody (Gregory) Rudd, their children, his great grandchildren Christian Prescott, Caitlyn Paige, Carlee Piper and Owen Gregson Rudd.
A grandson Randy (Dannielle) Noel and their daughter Christine Anne Marie.
Several nieces and nephews, all he loved with all his heart.
Many friends and his special lady, Marty's sister Alverna Elizabeth.
He also loved family get-togethers when he wasn't too ill to attend. He was a lifetime member of the Longfield VFW, American Legion, Moose Lodge and the Indiana Restaurant Association. He enjoyed sponsoring many sports activities including golf scrambles, dart tournaments, baseball teams, and a race car driver at the Sportsdrome among other speedways. He also sponsored annual company team picnics for his customers and families. He loved going to Churchill Downs, the horses and Vegas. But most of all, his family meant more. He was always making sure everything was okay, telling them how much he loved them and wished he could make everything perfect.
A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00AM, Saturday, December 12 at St Joe Chapel. Visitation will be Friday 4-8 PM at the Garr Funeral Home. Online condolences can be made at garrfuneralservices.com.
